Creating a win-win

The Challenge: A major mining entity in South Africa needed to evaluate the economic trade-offs of land use on their concessions. The goal was to determine if agricultural development could co-exist with mining or provide a viable post-mining land use strategy.

The Vuna Solution: We conducted a specialist economic analysis comparing the long-term value of various agricultural enterprises against mining footprints. We developed enterprise gross margin models to highlight the most sustainable and profitable land-use options.

The Impact: Provided the client with a robust, defensible strategy for land-use optimization, reducing social risk and creating a clear roadmap for post-closure economic transition.
